Keep Dancing and Stay Safe
Hello First Ladies Family,
I hope that you are all doing well during these unprecedented times. I wanted to reach out to share some updates and spread a little light to everyone as well.
First off, big congratulations to all of our returning and new members for the 2020-2021 school year! I am so excited to welcome you all and look forward to working with you over the next year. We have a team of 23 and could potentially grow even more after our summer audition. Great work, Ladies!
Second, as I'm sure you are aware, the district is taking precaution to lessen the spread of COVID-19, so all classes for students are cancelled through April 3. For more up to date details and tips on how to protect our community, please check the AISD website by clicking here. Meal distributions will be available for families and friends in need. Please share this link if you know of anyone that would benefit from this service.
Due to the uncertainties, all future First Ladies events will be postponed or canceled. Over the next 2 weeks, the faculty is planning to brainstorm our plans of action moving forward. I will keep you posted as I have more details.
It's important to listen to the advice given by our community members and the world. Stay informed about COVID-19 by clicking on this link. Please do as much as you can to practice social distancing, wash your hands often, stay home as much as you can even if you feel fine, and if you do feel sick - go to a doctor.
Last, I know we cannot dance together physically right now, but I want to encourage you all to dance or move as much as you can within your safe space at home, in your backyard, patio/etc. It's important to stay active and healthy during this time. The dance and fitness community is doing an INCREDIBLE job sharing classes online for free at this time, and there are some really awesome big name teachers doing this. I've been posting opportunities on the Instagram story, but if you are not connected there, please check out the following resources to keep your mind, body, and spirit lifted!
Ya'll these are just a few of the great people and companies out there staying connected through social media and encouraging us all to continue to move. We sure do live in interesting times, but what a blessing it is to have technology to keep us connected. Many dance, yoga, and fitness studios in town are also offering free or donation based online classes. It's beautiful to see all the positive ways people are helping one another out, and I'll continue to send opportunties via facebook and instagram as they pop up.
I hope that you take this time to still find gratitude in your life, rest, journal, meditate, call friends and family that can't be with you, DANCE, stretch, strengthen, listen to music, read, write, paint, clean out your space, create, whatever it is - do something good for yourself each day, and know that this will pass.
I love you all, wish you health and wellness, and look forward to seeing you again (hopefully) soon.
